Orgue Agnès : nouvelle signature !
It’s about time we put some bright colours in our catalogue. It’s time to celebrate with the joyful signature of the trio Orgues Agnès (association of the benefactors of Sourdure, Clément Vercelletto and Èlg). Discover their unthinkable voodoo-dada cauldron, somewhere between Dr John, the Tom Waits of Bone Machine, Royal Trux and state-of-the-art electronics! Laurent
BIO
Orgue Agnès is a trio made of:
Ernest Bergez (Kaumwald, Sourdure) who plays multi-dimensional basses with a violin and sings like a hallucinated robot-shepherd.
Clément Vercelletto (Kaumwald, Sarah Terral) who takes care of the music’s core and pulsation via a singular acoustic drum set connected to synths, while exploding a rusted Pandora’s box with his saxophone.
Laurent Gérard (Èlg, Opéra Mort) who plays elastic keyboards and overdriven guitalélé, screaming imaginary prays all over the top.
The result could be described as ‘shepherd funk’, ‘incantatory free dub’ or even ‘the missing link between fractal cabbage and calabi yau spaces‘.
“By turns exuberant and apprehensive, ‘A Une Gorge‘ is an apt soundtrack for a milieu in which you can’t trust facts but your feelings don’t lie” (Bill Meyer, The Wire: Adventures In Modern Music, January 2019)
“This is electrified ping-pong music. This music pings and pongs. A lot of Orgue Agnès music sounds like it was made with electric ping-pong balls bouncing inside of a throat or a mouth.” (Eric Chenaux)

THE QUIETUS
‘Orgue Agnès’s À une gorge is a jamboree of herky-jerky hypnotised chicken grooves, a weird and wild collection that stomps and shimmies its way to being one of the finest underground French releases of 2018′

“These dudes can swing and create delirious sound scapes and Krautish expectations. Can. Yep, Can. They might be songs crafted with layers and layers of overlays and edits, but it comes across as improvisational. There is a sense of abandonment of convention. A search for something not heard before. It took about three listens, and a look at one of their live video gigs before I really heard it. What a wonderful place they’ve created.”
